Cluniac Destinations 2020

On Saturday, May 16th the 30th general assembly of the EFCS will take place in Charlieu (Loire, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France). Programmes and registration process will be provided during the first half of 2020.

The Department of Loire, owner of the site, will co-organize the event with the EFCS, in the context of the rapprochement between both structures started in 2019 : membership to the EFCS, UNESCO project for Cluny and Cluniac sites and touristic highlighting of Charlieu.

This meeting will be an opportunity to discover a major cluniac site : the abbey Saint Fortuné of Charlieu. Built at the 9th Century by the count Boson, future king of Burgundy Cisjurane, and Ratbert, bishop of Valence, it is one of the first monasteries to join Cluny in 932, and will become one of its most important dependencies.

Visit Clunypedia to discover the history of the site and its great romanesque heritage !
